Checking Your Bytes Before You Bark (XP & Vista)

As a switched on K9 Gadget knows you can't always tell if a bBroadband connection is broken, or there's simply a problem with the web browser. So before he barks at the support desk he presses the Windows key and R together to launch the Run box, then types:

ping www.foxhallsolutions.com

...and presses Enter. A black window appears as Windows tries to connect to our website - and if several lines of text beginning with "Reply from' appear, the Broadband connection is fine and Gadget knows it's his browser playing up. If he doesn't get a reply, he knows he has to check the Broadband connection. So he switches the router off, counts to ten, switches the router back on, then tries the Internet again. If that doesn't cure it, he woofs for some help.

What our customers say:

‘Respond quickly. Major problem Thursday night – fixed by Friday morning- that’s service’
