Disable Disk Indexing (XP)
Posted November 19th, 2009
There's only one thing worse than a frustrated Border Collie, and that's two frustrated Border Collies! So what's the problem this time?
Well, unless you routinely use the Find tool to look for files on your computer the indexing feature in XP isn't much use. In fact it slows down the computer - and frustrates Gadget's quick pawed efficiency when he's trying to respond to all your emails.
So here's how to disable it.
Go to My Computer, right-click on the hard disk icon, and choose Properties, then untick the box labelled 'Allow Indexing Service to index this drive for fast file searching'.
Then click OK, and enjoy the difference - just as Gadget did!

What our customers say:
‘Have to say when I have called on Foxhall they have cracked the problem to the point they are providing a better service than I have previously experienced with the “big guys”.’
