SIP Trunks
SIP Trunks could save your business a packet.
Right now most people are looking very closely at costs - so here's a radical idea for cutting your phone bill.
Suppose each of your phone lines could handle up to eight calls at once?
Suppose calls between different offices - anywhere - were free?
Suppose you could cut your recurring trunk line costs as well?
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a way of using your Internet connection as a phone line. A single broadband connection can handle up to eight simultaneous telephone calls.
So how can we make that happen?
That's where SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) comes in. A standard business telephone system has it's own Private Branch eXchange (PBX). Normally that would connect directly to the public telephone and mobile networks - but with VoIP you want to connect via the Internet.
To do that you need a link between your PBX and an ISP (Interner Service Provider - your broadband supplier) who is able to deal with VoIP calls (not all of them can). And along with the broadband, you'll need one or more SIP Trunks. With these in place, the ISP can take your calls and connect them to the telephone networks.
